Stephen Douglas Spikes, 61, was united with his savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at his home in Springtown. He was born Oct. 27, 1962 to Henry David and Sara Dean Flynt Spikes in Fort Worth.
A funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Azle, followed by interment at Jaybird Cemetery.
Stephen was raised in Springtown and graduated Azle High School in 1981. He remained in the area where he married and raised his children. He worked all over Texas in the trailer and tire business. His last position was with Plainsman Tire Company for 10 years. Stephen was a member of First Baptist Church of Azle.
He played softball for many years and loved smoking brisket and ribs on his smoker, and baking with the grandkids. Stephen was a big Maverick’s fan. He was a compassionate man who loved to spend time with his family. Stephen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Spikes: brother, David Wayne Spikes; sister, Deborah Reeves and sister-in-law, Cordelia Spikes.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Spikes; father, Henry D. Spikes; children, Alex “Junior” Acosta and wife Jaymie, Lindsey Sisk and husband Joshua, Jeremy Spikes, Jenna Spikes, and Venessa Escoto and husband Raul; brothers Allen Dale Spikes and wife Dale, Johnny Spikes and wife Sheri; and 13 wonderful grandchildren.
